Introduction
Hi. I'm an SDET 15+ years experience in tech. I started my testing journey in the hardware space, building and maintaining laboratories of routers, switches, and access points for AT&T. I soon found out that I like managing incidents, solving problems, and creating and automating processes between my team and engineering. This caught the attention of the QA department and I was invited to join a team of database-focused testers.
Knowing that I learn best in collaborative environments, I noticed there wasn't an SDET group in Austin. So, I grabbed two of my friends and we started Austin Automation Professionals. We quickly assembled some of the best speakers and QA professionals in the area and began a following of around 50 members who regularly showed up to our monthly meetings and ended with a total list of over 2500 members.
I continue to serve the local tech community as a co-organizer for DevOpsDays Austin and as a project manager for Open Austin. I am also enrolled in Austin Community College with a focus on an associates in UX/UI design due 2027. Combined with my Master's in Business Administration, this gives me a unique but well-rounded software engineering background.

Work Experience
Updater (2022-2025)
- Drove culture change around testing/testability with coverage change reporting and persistent feedback on progress. Evangelized unit testing best practices and visibility across team by reviewing dev PRs, leading presentations, and adding to documentation.
- Analyzed and optimized code quality, reducing complexity and improving maintainability scores to an A or B on CodeClimate's grading system
- Increased jest coverage on all repos from under 40% to 80% unit test coverage by increasing jest tests from 2k to ~ 6k. Removed hundreds of individual static mocks and replaced them with up to date generated mocks using graphql-codegen, adding to the test architecture readability and developer experience.
- Refactored hundreds of Cypress test automation specs from javascript to typescript, improving CI/CD performance 10x using MSW, and making cleaner and more readable using factory patterns. Created new Cypress tests as part of feature development.
